AS
FAR AS YOUR IMAGINATION AND COMMITMENT WILL TAKE YOU
Career
and citizenship are among the big issues for the contemporary world.
It
is how people get what they need - and what their loved ones need - from
the way things are.

Who is the café for?
The
Career-learning Café is for personal advisers, careers advisers,
teachers and lecturers in the careers-work and education-for-citizenship
field. It helps them to help people deal with the way things are in contemporary
working life.
The café also helps people with a wider remit: counsellors, advisers,
social workers, youth workers and voluntary workers - all increasingly
involved in helping people get things the way they need them to be.
What people do about careers and citizenship has a big impact on who gets
to do what in our society. There is no more important issue. Government
consultants and officials are increasingly involved. Business people seek
influence. Academics work on theory and research and suggest how to use
them. All of these groups will find useful material here.
But, for most people, career and citizenship is what they do - day-on-day.
And there are things about this experience that only working people -
in our cities, neighbourhoods, villages and families - really know. Some
are working in paid employment; some are working in other ways. If you
can speak for these people, take a look. Because, if the café is
not helping you to help them, you should be telling us.
